Black Creatives to Follow and Support
What a time in history. The feelings of grief, rage and disappointment have us all in turmoil. I follow Lyn Slater, the author of the fabulous blog, ACCIDENTAL ICON. Lyn wrote a piece that made me stop cold. It is called “Context and the Meaning of Living Your Best Life.” You can read it here. I also read another post regarding the “All Woman Project” in Vogue that you can find here. As a middle aged white woman of privilege, I know I need to do more, understand more and be a better woman and friend. I thought I knew. I thought I got it. Now I realize I didn’t have a clue. So this will be a time for me to listen, to learn, to grow and to support black lives.
Connection is what brought me to this space. Meeting women from all over the world through blogging and instagram is a wonderful journey. Women of all races, sizes, ages and styles who bravely share their stories and souls is inspiring and humbling. This experience has enriched my life more than I can express. So now I hope to use my small platform to introduce you to 4 extraordinary black creative women. We had an afternoon to connect via zoom and the one thread I heard from these women is a need to be SEEN, to receive OPPORTUNITIES and to be INCLUDED in this community. Everyone of these ladies has a unique niche. No matter the color of our skin, we are so much more alike than we are different. Please follow and support them. There is so much to learn, so much to share and so much hope to be had.

Monday’s Best Buys
Just a few favorites on this Monday!
Happy Monday Everyone! I hope you had a lovely weekend. There is so much going on right now that I pressed the pause button and had a quiet weekend at home. As I am now typing, the roof work at Casa de Frick continues. Lot’s and lot’s of loud pounding going on! What better way to escape then to go online and pick out my favorites for you and me! So let’s get started.
First up is a blue and white dress. If you know me, you know I can’t get enough blue and white! From dishes to dresses I LOVE it all. This one is so reasonable and I will link it all at the end of this post for you.

I love it! I would wear it very loose in the heat and with a belt when we have normal summer temps! (which is NOT often in Texas!) A simple sandal and a cute mask and you are ready to go!

Here is another simple dress but in such a fab neutral. I cannot get enough dresses to get me through the endless summer here in San Antonio.

Monday’s Musings
Happy Monday Everyone
This Monday I am ready to BE POSITIVE! Living in the age of Covid19 has had most of us in a state of uncertainty, fear, isolation and for many young people, unacceptance that this is real. Well it is here and it is very REAL. So on this Monday after surging in almost all states please be kind, wear a mask and practice social distancing.
The death of George Floyd has also had a profound effect on all of us. To see the outrage and protests around this country has given me hope. I have been reading, watching movies and educating myself. I thought I knew but seriously, I had no idea. What we were not taught in school is absolutely appalling. But I do see good coming through, finally. I am here to support that.
And it is PRIDE month. I am so happy to hear the Supreme Courts decision to not allow ANY discrimination. So even in these dark times, we are seeing enlightenment.
I don’t usually share any of this here but this month my heart and soul said to. I am a big believe in following your heart and soul.

I have been a fan of Julie Vos Jewelry from the minute I saw it! When I tried on my first piece it was magic. The beautiful gold finish against my skin was so flattering! I started asking for pieces from my husband for every occasion I could think of.
This jewelry is designed and handcrafted to the standards of fine jewelry.
